TAKING OVER
1) Come to keep watch 30 minute before the duty begin.
2) Make hand over with engineer in duty.
3) Make sure don’t have problem with all of machinery in engine room.
4) Check the log book before keep watch.
5) Ask the engineer in duty about some work remind.
6) Ask about all machinery is working at the time.
ROUTINES
Before leaving engine room, watch keeping engineer officer must ensure that:
1. Engine room round taken and all found normal, all LO sumps oil replenished , wherever found necessary.
2. Engine room bildge are dry and no abnormal leaks notice, all bildge wells empty.
3. All standby pumps complete with valves are ready for operation.
4. Electric load normal for diesel generator control panel in engine room,, diesel generator on remote standby and not in dead angle. Function switch on auto syncro normal.
5. Only essential machinery is running.
6. FO and DO ( service or settling tank ) topped up and drained of water.
7. Fire alarms system in good order and condition all fire sensors operational good.
8. Dead man alarms and engineer call switch is normal.
9. Air compressor is in auto start/stop and main engine starting valves on, keep the pressure around 20-30 bar.
10. All engine alarm working and no abnormal alarm light in engine control room.
11. Un manned alarm engine room in cabin working.
12. Check around engine room about all of machinery in using and all parameter normal.
13. Fill up the log book about the up date condition and situation around engine room.
14. Make sounding all of tanks in engine room and make report with fill up the sounding in log book.
